terrain

Since 0.6Changed in 0.7

A terrain: a heightfield ground built from the op stack of a .terrain.json file, drawn, collided and navigated as one.

Plain text

The entity's position is the terrain's origin; its rotation and scale must be identity. 3D projects only.

Use it in a scene entity's components list as { "type": "terrain", … }. The contract writes the fields flat and refuses unknown keys.

Fields

FieldTypeRequiredDefaultAllowed valuesDescription
sourcestringyesProject-relative .terrain.json file.
renderTerrainRenderModenoauto, offDefault auto: HD draws VG, standard draws LOD meshes.
collisionTerrainCollisionModenoheightfield, offDefault heightfield: the terrain is solid ground. off: no collider.
navbooleannoFeed nav's heightfield source. Default true when the scene has nav.
groundCoverTerrainGroundCovernoGrass and forest-floor cover grown on the terrain in HD; none when absent.
horizonbooleannofalseThe terrain's horizon map: the terrain shadows itself past the sun's shadow distance and deep valleys get less sky light (standard renderer, and HD without ray-traced shadows or GI). Default false.
