## Fields

| Field | Type | Required | Default | Allowed values | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| `restLength` | `number` | no | | | Spring length in metres with the vehicle unloaded. Greater than zero. |
| `travel` | `number` | no | | | How far in metres the spring may compress from rest. Greater than zero. It is checked against the ground clearance under the chassis collider by `vehicle-geometry`. |
| `stiffness` | `number` | no | | | Spring rate in newtons per metre. Greater than zero. A rough starting point is the corner's share of the vehicle's weight divided by the sag you want, so a 2,000 kg car on four wheels with 0.08 m of sag wants about 61,000 N/m. |
| `dampingCompression` | `number` | no | | | Damper rate in newton-seconds per metre while the spring is compressing. Zero or more. Normally the smaller of the two, so a wheel absorbs a bump and releases it slowly. |
| `dampingRelaxation` | `number` | no | | | Damper rate in newton-seconds per metre while the spring is extending. Zero or more, and normally larger than dampingCompression. |
| `maxForce` | `number` | no | | | Ceiling in newtons on what this spring may push with, whatever the compression. Greater than zero. It is what stops a stiff spring firing the chassis into the air after a hard landing at a 60 Hz tick. |
