## Fields

| Field | Type | Required | Default | Allowed values | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| `style` | `RenderStyle` | no | | `default`, `retro` | Starting point for every field below. default: pbr, linear, agx, exposure 1, scale 1, fxaa. retro: vertex, nearest, none, exposure 1, scale 0.5, off: a late-1990s 3D look. |
| `shading` | `RenderShading` | no | | `pbr`, `unlit`, `vertex`, `toon` | Shading of every lit material that does not set its own (a material file's `shading`). Unlit and toon materials keep theirs. |
| `filter` | `RenderFilter` | no | | `linear`, `nearest`, `three-point` | Texture filter of every material that does not set its own. linear keeps what each model's sampler says. |
| `tonemap` | `RenderTonemap` | no | | `aces`, `neutral`, `none`, `agx`, `agx-punchy`, `unreal-filmic` | aces (filmic), neutral (Khronos PBR Neutral: mid tones unchanged), none (clamp), agx, agx-punchy or unreal-filmic. Absent: agx-punchy (retro: none). The standard renderer draws unreal-filmic as aces, with one note. |
| `exposure` | `number` | no | | | Multiplier on lit light before the tonemapper, more than 0 and at most 64. Unlit surfaces ignore it. |
| `scale` | `number` | no | | | Draw the scene at this fraction of the output size, 0.1..1, and scale it up with nearest filtering: big square pixels. The UI stays sharp. |
| `antiAliasing` | `RenderAntiAliasing` | no | | `fxaa`, `off` | fxaa or off. |
| `bloom` | `RenderBloom` | no | | | Optional bloom of the HDR scene before the tonemap, standard renderer only (HD has its own post). Absent: off, and frames are unchanged. |
| `ao` | `RenderAo` | no | | | Optional contact ambient occlusion from the depth buffer, standard renderer only (HD has its own). Absent: off, and frames are unchanged. |
| `screenEffects` | `RenderScreenEffect[]` | no | | | Full-screen effects, run in order: each is a `kind: post` shader that runs before or after the tonemap by its own `slot`. Standard renderer only. Absent or empty: none, and frames are unchanged. |
| `exposureMode` | `RenderExposureMode` | no | | `manual`, `auto` | manual: `exposure` is the camera's exposure. auto: HD meters every frame and adapts to it like an eye, so shadowed and sunlit views both read; `exposure` then shifts the metered exposure, brightening it above 1 and darkening it below. Absent: auto in HD unless the scene sets `exposure` or the retro style, which keep manual. The standard renderer has no meter and draws manual. |
| `exposureAdaptation` | `RenderExposureAdaptation` | no | | | HD only: how far auto exposure brightens a dark scene (a forest interior metered all the way to mid-grey reads bright and flat). Below `referenceEv100` the scene is brightened `strength` of the way. Absent: 0.6 of the way for a scene that leaves exposure to the engine (no `exposure`, `exposureMode` or retro style), full adaptation otherwise. Ignored by the standard renderer, which has no meter, and by `exposureMode: manual`. |
| `look` | `RenderLook` | no | | | Colour grade: a look preset (natural, cinematic, bright-day, overcast, night, stylised) and overrides (contrast, saturation, temperatureK, tint, shadowsLift, vignette). Both renderers. Absent: no grade. |
